Nepal Map

Nepal, formally the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is a landlocked nation in South Asia bordered by the Himalaya Mountains to the east and India to the west and incorporates parts of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. With a current population of 26.4 million, it is world-ranked 48th by population and 93rd by area. Its borders are with China in the north and India in the south, east, and west. Nepal has a very diverse and complicated topography and geology including prolific fields, subalpine forested slopes, and eight of the world’s ten tallest mountains including Mount Everest, the most noteworthy and highest point on Earth at a current elevation of 8,848 meters (29,029 ft.) above sea level. Kathmandu is the nation’s capital and largest city with a population of over one million people and a very unique architecture, history and culture. Nepal is a multiethnic country with Nepali as the official language. Nepal is roughly in the same latitude as the US state of Florida, but because of elevation variation and geology the climate is much different.

Nepal has six distinct climate zones directly relating to varied elevations. The Tropical zone lies below 1,000 meters (3,300 ft.), next the Subtropical zone follows up to an elevation of 2,000 meters (6,600 ft.), followed by the Temperate Climate zone which extends to 3,000 meters (9,800 ft.), then the Subalpine zone extends to 4,000 meters (13,100 ft.), then the Alpine zone which travels up to 5,000 meters (16,400 ft.) and finally the Nival zone where there is no human habitation and extends all the way up to the top of the world at over 8,848 meters (29,029 ft.).

Nepal experiences five distinct seasons. They are, spring, summer, monsoon, autumn, winter. The Himalaya Mountains bring down frosty breezes from Central Asia and is the dominant factor which drives climate events and weather in most of Nepal. In a land once thickly forested, poorly regulated deforestation continues for land use, and has become a major environmental and economic issue in all locations in Nepal.

Nepal is famous for mountaineering, having a large portion of the tallest and most difficult mountains to climb on the planet, including Mount Everest. In fact, the southeast edge on the Nepal side of the Everest is the most popular and successful way to climb, so most climbers like to trek to Everest through Nepal. The tourist friendly government is also another reason to use Nepal as the gateway to the top of the world, and with so many incredible places to go and things to do, it just makes sense to start and finish here.

Dal Bhat is the national dish of Nepal, and is a must try for everyone. Different communities enjoy a wide variety of dishes in this modern era and global community. The options are as varied as the people who come here. Bread items, soups, rice dishes, curries and much western fare are also popular.

Different ethnic groups observe different festivals and special celebrations throughout the year so there is always something new and exciting to participate in or see. Our clients can book a festival tour in Nepal during special events at certain times of the year.

Religious harmony is one of the prominent aspects of Nepal. Nepali people truly do love and honor people from all different cultural and religious backgrounds.

Nepal is known for far more than just mountain climbing too. Nepal is one of the world’s most exciting and challenging destinations for trekking, touring, river rafting, bungee jumping, paragliding, jungle safari, mountain biking, mountain flight, helicopter touring and many other adventures and exciting activities.

Nepal is a truly blessed and magical land full of endless incredible beauty, natural and cultural wonders and diversity with many religious, cultural and historical sites listed by the UNESCO World Heritage Foundation that attract thousands of travelers every year. Come explore our magic and majesty and have for yourself a once in a lifetime experience that no other place on earth can provide. We are Nepali!
