Rara Lake, often referred to as Mahendra Lake, is the biggest freshwater lake in the Nepalese Himalayas. In the Jumla District of the Karnali Province, it is the defining quality of Rara National Park. The 106 sq. km size of Rara National Park is home to Rara lake. The lake’s variety of Snowtrout fish is well known too. Rara lake not only carries defining the beauty of turquoise color water but also carries the holy beliefs of the people.
The lake is best visited during the months of March and May. The lake has a brilliant blue hue, the sky is bright, and the rhododendrons are flowering everywhere at this time of year, decorating the mountain pathways with color. The tower, located above the lake which is a two-hour climb away, offers a breathtaking glimpse of the water. The calm oval-shaped lake is surrounded by a wide range of flora and fauna. Rara Lake is a pristine, secret lake in western Nepal that has an area of 10.8 square kilometers and is located at a height of 2990 meters. Himalayan endangered flora and animals may be found in abundance around the lake. The tourists on this trekking route will have a fantastic experience when they come across the pure Rara Lake, the deep, dense forest, and the unique diversity of flora and animals.
The journey takes you from a chaotic capital city to Jumla’s outlying region. The trek concludes at the tranquil beauty of Rara Lake after passing through the beautiful villages of Gorusingha, Sija, and Jaljala. Rara National Park is one of the most fascinating national parks to view a variety of species. There are several blue pines, black juniper, oak, cypress, and rhododendron woods in the national park. Leopards, Musk Deer, Red Pandas, Ghoral, Thar, and Himalayan Black Bears have all claimed these regions as their home. Over 200 different kinds of vibrant birds and butterflies can be seen in this Mountainous district.

We travel past Khatyar Khola Camp and a few villages, including Murma, en route to Rara Lake. The climb becomes a little easier after Murma. We keep moving in the direction of Chapri village, which is home to the Rara National Park Headquarters. Trek hours: 6 hours BLD Hotel
We explore the immense lake's beautiful water, which is also known as the Mahendra Taal (Lake), in honor of the late monarch Mahendra. While boating, we get the opportunity to take in the lake's lovely surroundings and learn about a wide variety of species. Ruma Kand and Malika Kand peaks surround the northern portion of the Rara Lake, while Chuchhemara Peak is located on its southern side. BLD Hotel
Our trail from Rara lake will be easier to Gamghadi. Gamghadi serves as the administrative center for Nepal’s isolated district Mugu. We take a steep trail walk to pina village from Gamghadi. Trek hours: 6 hours BLD Tea House 2,440m
We leave Pina and cross Ghurchi Lagna pass (3840m). Before we get to Bumra, we keep going down and pass through a few villages. Nauri Ghat is another name for the Bumra settlement. Trek hours: 6-7 hours BLD Tea House 2,850m
We cross two suspension bridges over the Hima River and arrive at a hot spring. We quickly cross the Danphe Lagna pass( 3691m ) after the hot spring. We take the same route we did a few days earlier after arriving in Cherechaur to go to Jumla. Trek hours: 6-7 hours BLD Hotel 2,540m
