About Pokhara Sarankot Day Hiking
Pokhara- Sarankot day hiking is one of the finest choices of travelers who come to visit Nepal. Pokhara valley is a popular serene and tranquil tourist hub. Pokhara valley itself offers lots of opportunities to experience the tranquility of peaceful lakes, temples, caves, falls and other cultural and natural attractions. The major attraction of Pokhara valley are Phewa Lake, Begnas Lake, Barahi Temple, Gupteswor Cave, David Falls, Chamere Cave and many more. On the first day of this trek, either you will fly(35mins.) or drive (6-8 hrs.) to Pokhara in the morning and the day will be spend for Pokhara sightseeing and spend the night at hotel.
The next day, you commence hiking, an ascent to a hill station named Sarankot located at 1600 m high in the northern part of Pokhara valley from where one can enjoy the thrills of adventure, paragliding. It’s a 3 hours hike from Pokhara. On your ascending to Sarnkot, you will get opportunity to pass through a dense forest and will view a number species of birds. Upon your arrival at the top of the hill, you will find a tower from where you can have a magnificent view of entire Pokhara valley including Phewa Lake and witness a wide majestic range of Annapuran including Fish-tail (Machhapuchhre). The tower is popular for sunshine and sunset view. Probably, the most accessible hill station nearest to Pokhara valley offering breath-taking Mountain View is Sarankot.
A further walk for more a hour lets you visit a place of historical importance named Kaskokot. It was a fort made by Shah Kings in ancient time during the war. Its ups to whether you want to go to Kaskikot or not. Otherwise, you can stay in Sarankot enjoying beautiful lakes in the Pokhara valley and alluring mountain panaroma. You send the night here and the next day, early in the morning, you go for the sunrise view along with some majestic mountains to he north. Then, you hike down to Pokhara on the same day.
