Each year more and more people come to visit this landlocked and mysterious wonderland we all call home. Many people from all walks of life and all locations around the globe describe Nepal as an ultimate holiday destination.
Nepal is blessed with a vast amount of natural beauty and geography and is home to eight of the most significant mountains for trekking and climbing in the entire world, located in the Himalaya mountain range of south Asia and include the most famous and tallest of them all Everest. Included in that list of eight are Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, Manasalu, and Annapurna, all of which are truly massive mountains. The Himalaya mountains are being formed by the Indian Tectonic plate subducting (going under) the Eurasian tectonic plate. The collision of these two tectonic plates which started about 50 million years ago is lifting up the Himalayan mountains that we know today, and which eventually may rise another 4,000 to 5,000 meters of the coming millions of years. Many millions of years ago the top of Mount Everest was once at the bottom of a body of water called the Tethys Sea.
And let’s not forget that Nepal and the Himalaya mountains, more specifically the Everest region is home to the legend of the Abominable Snow Man or Yeti, that is believed by many to be a cousin of the legendary American Big Foot, Or not.
