Gosainkunda trek, a trek to the hidden holy lakes of Nepal, holds a great resemblance of spirituality and peace. It is a short trip led by the woods of Langtang National Park. From the wilderness of those woods to the silent rocky plains with no vegetation on the site. Gosaikunda trek is a trek of fascination, as it begins at the foot of the hill ending up all the way to the top of the barren hills.
With a little road trip from Kathmandu to Rasuwa, the trek eventually begins at Dhunche, a small Bazzar located inside Rasuwa which eventually leads to Sayaprubesi, which is the beginning of the Langtang Gosaikunda trek as well. The trek first starts with a little of the forest and further follows a trail followed by the river descending down from the lakes of Gosaikunda itself. Further and further into the trek, you walk through the forests of Langtang National Park, exploring all kinds of plants and insects. Deers passing by gazing at you would probably come true and if you are lucky the endangered red pandas are a site.
Mules and donkeys carrying all kinds of goods, the fundamentals, and the foods, with the locals running behind them are quite normal to encounter here. As you reach Deurali, a place at an elevation of 2500m, the travelers prefer it to be their first stay for the trek. The hike from Dhunche to Deurali is about 3 hours after the long ride from Kathmandu. The trek continues through the woods, passing by Dhimsa you finally reach Chandan bari, the second destination of your trek. It is a small village with a small number of people from the Tamang community running their business. Not only that, you visit one of the oldest cheese factories, here in Chandan bari. As you ascend upwards, the waterfalls on the other side of the hills seem to get below you, the walk is less tiresome. The site is magnificent as the sun goes lower and the sky turns orange, the path seems like a wonderland, showing all its wonder just to bless you with joy. Continuing the trek and heading towards Cholang Pati, the first glimpse of Ganesh Himal blesses your eyes making the trek all the more exciting.
Arriving at Cholang Pati you feel the difference in the atmosphere, with the forest coming to an end, a little greenery around, and the mountain range tagging along, home starts to feel miles away. But the trek excites you with all your heart, and you head towards Lauribina, a rocky top that you see from Cholang Pati. Ascending upwards with this energy, you reach Lauribina a destination where the Himalayas surround you all over and you see the 360-degree view of the snow-capped mountain, you being at the center. The stunning views of the mountains will leave you speechless and all you can do is stare right back at those breathtaking Himalayas.
To add on to the trek, you head towards your destination, Gosaikunda. The final steps towards the lake mark the most dramatic ending as you walk through the narrow rocky terrains having steep slopes as you see downwards, which makes it the most adventurous. Naag Kunda is the first lake view you start feeling nearer to your destination. As you walk by the trail you see various Kunda along the way which makes the journey even more beautiful. At the end of the day you reach Gosaikunda, and the cold water with the peace it holds will forever remain in your heart.
