Everest base camp trek itinerary

The trek toward Everest base camp takes 16 days. From the day you land in Kathmandu till reaching Everest base camp, you’ll find yourself filled with diversified experiences. People, landscapes, culture, colors, and nature in your surroundings will make you enjoy & explore everything with equal interest.

Starting your day in Kathmandu exploring UNESCO world heritage sites, and temples - Pashupatinath temple, monkey temple, and Durbar squares will excite you for the ahead journey. On day three, you will take a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla for about 45 minutes. Lukla is a place in the Khumbu region with an elevation of 2840m.

 Then you start your trek towards Phakding, which will take approximately 3 hours. Phakding village lies in the Dudhkoshi river valley where villagers follow a simple and independent lifestyle. The next day, you continue your trek for about 5.5 hours to get to the Namche bazaar. Namche bazaar is also known as the gateway of Everest. Day 5, is an acclimatization day in the Namche bazaar. You will explore around Namche bazaar or the nearest village. Namche bazaar is a historic trading hub famous for Himalayan yak homemade cheese and butter. After sightseeing of ancient culture, and traditions and experience the heartwarming welcome, on the sixth day, you trek toward Tengboche Monastery at an altitude of 3860m. Tengboche is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Sherpa community. Here, you can stay overnight at a guest house.

 After a rest in Tengboche village, you will start your day seven trekking toward Dingboche. Dingboche includes a viewpoint from which you can observe mountains including Mt. Everest. Another acclimatization day! Day 8. That day you can take a day trip to Chukung(4730m). Chukung village serve to trekkers and mountaineers in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Back to the same tea house in Dingboche and you can take a rest as the trek will be more challenging as elevation increases. Day 9 will be a trek to Lobuche. You will trek for about 6 to 7 hours to reach the Lobuche and rest there for the night. Lobuche at 4900m altitude is a small sherpa settlement for trekkers and climbers.

 Day 10 is the big day. That day you will trek towards Gorakshep(5164m) and hike to EBC. Everest base camp is at an altitude of 5363m. you will see yourself surrounded by incredible mountains Everest, Lobuche, Imja Tse, and many more.

For Day 11, you can hike up to Kala Patthar(5545m) and enjoy the view of the mountains and sunrise. On the same day, you descend to Pheriche with an elevation of 4200m for trekking for around 7 hours. The next day, you continue to walk down towards Namche bazaar and rest overnight. On day thirteen, you will trek for 4 hours to reach Phakding and stay there in a tea house or guest house. The last day in the Khumbu region will go by trekking towards Lukla for 3 hours. On day 15 you take a flight back to Kathmandu and the next day will be the final departure.
