Winter Trekking in Helambu Valley
I did the Helambu Trek in winter and it was still beautiful. The lower altitude means it is one of the few Nepal treks you can do in December. Our guide was so knowledgeable about the best winter routes. He made sure we had warm tea house rooms every night. Himalaya Hub is a local trekking operator in Kathmandu and their year round knowledge really helped. The oak and pine forests with a light dusting of snow were so pretty. Sermathang village at 2,610m was so charming. Stone houses, apple trees, and kind people everywhere. Our guide had friends there and we were treated like guests. Best Mountain Views on Helambu Trek
Tharepati at 3,597m was the highest point of our trek and the panoramic views from there were stunning. Jugal Himal, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa all spread out in front of us. Our guide named every peak and told us about each one. He was so passionate and proud. Himalaya Hub is a professional trekking company and their viewpoint stops were perfectly timed. The Helambu Trek Nepal is a short trek with big mountain rewards. Knowledgeable guides and porters who made every day feel special.
