Manaslu april 2024 with Lopsang

I recently did Manaslu circuit trek with 3 other young women (age 20-33) and our fantastic guide Lopsang. Manaslu is a beautiful trek, which immerses you in authentic Tibetan/buddhist culture and amazing scenery. Lopsang was an incredible guide, managing a perfect balance between being responsible and decisive when necessary, whilst also being relaxed and giving us some say in our own preferences during the trek (resulting in the opportunity to do a hike to the Tibetan border, which wasn’t initially in the itinerary). Manaslu trek is challenging, but doable for people with a good physical condition and adequate gear (such as shoes and clothing for the cold).

Manaslu Trek with a very good guide: Surya Khanal

A friend and I did the Manaslu Trek with a guide from this organization. The friend of me met the guide when walking the Annapurna trek. The guide, Surya Khanal, is a really good guide. I can recommend this guide for everyone who is planning to walk the Manaslu trek. He will help you with everything, gives you fun and interesting facts about the surroundings and is a strong guide. Next to this, Surya is a sweat and happy guy who likes to help everybody, even saw him helping others trekkers during our trek. Just because he likes to do that. Next to that, we noticed that he likes to do trekking, and enjoys the nature you experience during the trek. Thank you for everything Surya!

Manaslu trek with guide Raju

We had an amazing time doing a 12 day trekking to Manaslu. Raju is a wonderful guide who knows a lot about the region and culture and made sure everything was really well organised. We felt really well taken care of and Raju thought along about the planning of the trekking. Would highly reccomend!

Manaslu Circuit - with helicopter rescue

We were staying at Elbrus Home and on the property would meet Prakash, who convinced us to take Manaslu Circuit instead of Annapurna. Manaslu you really are required to take a guide and it is definitely more remote then Annapurna which beginners should take into account. We paid a cash down payment and then met the next day in the office with Prakash to finalize all papers. After everything was set we were allowed to turn around and meet our guide. Something we definitely recommend to do differently if you get the chance: meet your guide before signing up. There are insane differences from guide to guide. We totally enjoyed the beautiful Manaslu Circuit and the organization of the trip overall was good. Here is some things that we demand to improve for others going with Prakash and Himalayan Adventures: Our guide who is employed by Himalayan Adventures: - did not bring a headlamp : on the day of the pass crossing we started at 3:30 in the morning and my girlfriend had to take the lead because she had a headlamp, while the guide didn’t. The company should equip every guide with a headlamp. - didn’t bring an oxymeter nor did he know how to use it or provide clean options in case of high altitude sickness: the company should equip every guide with an oxymeter and minimal Knowledge of high altitude sickness. - did rush through the trek without need: we startet walking 7:30 every day - half an hour late then everybody else, but finished half an hour early almost every day - without a need. Our guide was walking fast and if we were going slow he would walk behind us to push. In the long term of 12 days on the trek this increases the chances of exhaustion and high altitude sickness. Guides should be aware of this and the company should embrace this knowledge of going slow. We are all humans and nobody is perfect. Also as a customer you are responsible for yourself. But please don’t sell challenging tours to beginners if they can’t rely on the guide hundred percent. This is nothing special of Himalayan adventures but among many trekking companies in Nepal as we heard various stories. Do NOT go without a proper travel insurance covering costs of at least 10k USD, which we luckily had. Otherwise helicopters do not rescue you if payment isn’t sorted. In case of emergency which we unfortunately ran into we could rely on Prakash and it was organized well and quickly. Although it took 1.5 hours for the helicopter to arrive and there was no medical team on board. So make decisions early if you get into severe situations. Also Prakash mentioned one can walk in a Tshirt over the pass. While we knew this was exaggerated a little this is not close to accurate for most people. We got into a severe blizzard with -20 degrees and 50 km/h an hour of wind making it one of the worst pass crossings ever referring to all the guides in the teahouse later that day. Be prepared! All in all most of beginners successfully finish Manaslu Circuit. So of course you can go. But if you are really a beginner it might also makes sense to go to Pokhara and take easier treks first like Poonhill or Mardi and go for Annapurna after. Manaslu is really beautiful and special and it is totally worth it. Although our experience ended not that nice with helicopter rescue and hospital stay, we still enjoyed it and would do it again and recommend. BUT there are some improvements to be done by Prakash and his company as mentilned. Also always walk slower then necessary - doesn’t matter how tough or fit you are and no matter how fast the guide goes. We want to thank our guide, the porter and Prakash for organizing the trek at a decent price and for organizing the rescue when necessary. We are sure they will do everything to further improve and successfully guide Trekkers in Manaslu and Annapurna.

Manaslu Circuit 11 day Trek

Trekked the manaslu circuit with a fantastic guide named Bibek. He was very well spoken and knowledgeable. He taught me a lot about the culture in Nepal while ensuring I had a comfortable trek. We stayed at very comfortable accommodations along the way that had great food, hot showers and comfortable bedding. It was my first time trekking with a guide, and very grateful I did, as things were very smooth logistically and added a whole other level of experience having someone there to interpret the language, explain the culture, and ease the journey. Thanks Bibek & Himalaya Hub for a wonderful time in Nepal, will surely use your services again next time.
