Lower Dolpo is remote, raw, and absolutely beautiful. The flight to Juphal at 2,320m was the start of an incredible journey. Our guide was patient and caring and made sure we acclimatized properly before crossing the high passes. Dho Tarap village felt like the edge of the world in the best way possible. The ancient culture and dramatic landscapes made this one of the most memorable treks I have ever done.

Tipling Village Was Special
Tipling village at 2,000m had two beautiful gompas and the most welcoming people. Kids ran out to say hello and the whole village felt alive and happy. Our guide knew the monks there and we got to sit inside during a prayer session. Himalaya Hub is a local trekking operator in Kathmandu that really connects you with these hidden communities. The Ganesh Himal Trekking experience was so much more than mountains.

Between Langtang and Manaslu
The Ganesh Himal Trek sits between the Langtang and Manaslu regions and you can see both from the high passes. That feeling of being surrounded by two giant mountain systems was incredible. Our guide was so good at explaining the geography and making us understand the scale. Himalaya Hub is one of the best trekking agencies in Nepal and their route choice for this remote central Nepal area was brilliant. Tipling village with its two gompas was a cultural highlight.
The Bon Po monasteries were so unique and different from the Buddhist ones I had seen before. The Lower Dolpo experience was organized perfectly and our guide always made time to explain the cultural details. Kangmara La Pass at 5,115m was challenging but the views of Kanjiroba Himal were worth every hard breath. Ringmo village and Shey Phoksundo Lake were unforgettable highlights.

Wanted Snow Leopard Habitat and Got it
I wanted to trek in snow leopard habitat and Lower Dolpo gave me that. We did not see one but knowing we were in their home made every step more exciting. Our guide explained the wildlife and ecosystem of Shey Phoksundo National Park so well. Traditional yak caravans near Tarap Valley felt like something from another century. I loved the solitude and quietness of the whole trek.
