Ask for Kumar for excellent English , especially for Manaslu!
We did 13 day hike around Manaslu circuit with Kumar.
Kumar was a fantastic guide he spoke excellent English, he was very patient and also a pleasure to spend 13 days with . He also is a local to the starting point of the Manaslu circuit so instead of staying at a guesthouse the first night we stayed with his very welcoming family - a lovely touch !!
The reason we have given 4/5 is because our itinerary provided by the office Himalayan hub at the end was unrealistic however Kumar managed to resolve this issue for us which we are thankful for .Also on the last day we wasn’t happy with the final accommodation in Besi Shahar and felt pressured to eat there after we spoke about our concerns.
OTHERWISE we cannot praise Kumar enough and also Himalayan hub for suggesting Manasalu instead of Annapurna.
Anyone stuck on the choice choose Manasalu for a real beautiful cultural experience before it gets ruined. - but it’s tough.
Thank you !
My boyfriend and I found a representative for Himalaya Hub at the airport and were taken to their headquarters in Thamel. We met with Puru, who was very informative and a gracious host, and decided to book the all inclusive tour (guide, transport to circuit, and transport to Pokhara at end of trek, 3 meals a day and accommodation) of the Annapurna circuit with them. (We think we ended up paying a bit higher price but in our naivety did not haggle so this is our fault and we were still very very happy with everything provided.)
Kumar was awesome. Great English, always made sure we were taken care of, taught us some Nepali, showed great love for his culture, the mountains, and his family. He even helped out other trekkers who were not with a guide and were suffering from altitude sickness. Once he even stopped to help a man who's motorcycle was having issues. Great person, would trust him with my life.
Unfortunately, I got sick the day before our ascent and we had to cut our trek short. Kumar was very knowledgeable about trying to help make me feel better and our options back down the mountain (our jeep ride down the mountain was included in our cost instead of us continuing our trek. Our nights spent in Pokhara that would have been spent trekking were also paid for instead of the continued trek). Overall, Jeep ride down the mountain is BRUTAL, but was our best option given the sickness. So if you don't have to, don't take a jeep... your body will thank you.
Overall- great experience with Himalaya Hub and we would definitely recommend Kumar!
We were meeting my brother who lives in Australia in Kathmandu to celebrate his 30th. He and his girlfriend were approached at the airport by Puru, who helped them to plan and set up a 12 day trek along the Annapurna circuit, including Thorung La pass.
Our porters Arzun and Aman were quite simply excellent - bright, open and funny - but also very caring about the group as we gelled over the 12days. Our guide Kumar was keen and helpful and knew the circuit well.
This was a family trip but by the end of it, it felt like the family had extended by three. Our mum - "Mama" to us, but now also "Mama" to the rest of the guys too - became recognised by the trekker community along the route, testimony to how comfortable we felt together.
Thanks for the great advice in planning the route, and for getting us over the top! I must add that we could in fact have turned up with any of our own kit - we were loaned walking sticks, sleeping bags and thick down jackets free of charge.
*** My only word of warning is to triple the recommended amount of money to take with you up the mountain - and check it with your guide - as we almost ran out. ***
My gf and I did the AC trek with Kapil in June 2018. Kapil made the trek a real joy, he is tremendously helpful and considerate and always had our safety and wellbeing in mind. He's a a fun and great guy as well and we had many nice conversations. He is well informed and experienced with regards to the trek and he truly goes out of his way to help and make sure you are having the fullest and safest experience
Himalayan hub on their part are precise and detailed in their explanations and suggestions and in their presentation of the trek, weather condition and equipment needs. Professional and fair.
All in all a very great treking experience!
I did the Annapurna Base Camp in 7 days and it was great. Rupesh is a extraordinary guy and totally recommend him. The guides from the agency were very kind, helpful and funny. If you are in Nepal and do not jnow what to do,for sure they can help.
